Introducing New Teaching Artist: Marcin Kupiñski, Principal Dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet

Marcin Kupiñski, Polish.
Education: The National Ballet School in Gdansk.
Career: Employed as a corps dancer at the Royal Ballet in 2002. Appointed soloist in 2010 and Principal Dancer in 2011.

Highlights from the Royal Ballet’s repertoire: Junker Ove in A Folk Tale and James in Sylfiden (August Bournonville), Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake (Nikolaj Hübbe and Silja Schandorff), Albrecht in Giselle (Nikolaj Hübbe and Sorella Englund), Prince Desiré in Tornerose (Christopher Wheeldon), Solor in La Bayadère (Nikolaj Hübbe), Prince in The Nutcracker and Apollo(George Balanchine), soloist in Etudes (Harald Lander), Lenskij in Onegin (John Cranko), Gaston in The Lady of the Camellias, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Benvolio and Prince Paris in Romeo and Juliet (John Neumeier), Tony in the West Side Story Suite ( Jerome Robbins), Chanos in Come Fly Away (Twyla Tharp) and Death in The Death That Best Preserves (Natalia Horecna.)

Live-streamed on Zoom: Workshop includes warm-up, choreography with individual corrections and ‘Meet the Artist’ Q & A session. Students will learn an excerpt from Andy Blankenbuehler’s choreography.

BIO: Tanairi Sade Vazquez has made her mark in all avenues of the entertainment world in Broadway, Television and film. As an established Broadway performer, Tanairi’s debut was in The Original Revival cast of West Side Story as one of the shark girls in 2009. After that, she was unstoppable originating her roles in Wonderland, Gigi, and On Your Feet on Broadway and also being part of the First National tour of Come Fly Away. She is currently in the ensemble of Hamilton: An American Musical on Broadway. Her passion for acting doesn’t end at the Broadway stage. Her first big role was a recurring spot as Annie Valdez in Season 3 of Orange Is The New Black. She can also be seen in Law and Order SVU, The Blacklist, The Deuce, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Fosse/Verdon, and NBC’s Smash. Her next big project is set to premiere in December 2021, as a featured shark girl Charita in the new remake of West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg, written by Tony Kushner, and choreographed by Justin Peck.

Art Without Borders, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to inspire and expand students’ and educators’ imaginations through the arts and through cultural experiences. AWB aims to provide opportunities for engagement with the arts on multiple platforms to diverse audiences, both domestically and internationally.
