BIO: Unity Phelan was born in Princeton, New Jersey and began her dance training at the age of five at the Princeton Ballet School, where her teachers included Douglas Martin, Maria Youskevitch, and Mary Barton.

During the summers of 2008 and 2009, Ms. Phelan attended the summer sessions at the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet, and enrolled as a full-time student in fall of 2009.

She became an apprentice with NYCB in December 2012 and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in November 2013.

In February 2017, Ms. Phelan was promoted to soloist.

BIOOlivia Boisson is a member of New York City Ballet’s corps de ballet. She was born in Queens, New York, and began her dance training at the age of six at The Ballet Arts School of Forest Hills. She later studied at the Dance Theatre of Harlem in 2000 before enrolling as a full time student at the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet, during the fall of 2004. 

In August 2012, Ms. Boisson became an apprentice with NYCB, and the following December, she joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet.

HONORS: Ms. Boisson was the recipient of the 2012 Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise.

AWB Mentorship Program: Application is now open!

Art Without Borders New York is offering an exclusive Mentorship Program for students pursuing a career in the performing arts. The program provides a unique experience connecting students with world renowned industry professionals in the United States, including current and former company members from the New York City Ballet / Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Broadway.

Students registered to attend five (5) or more virtual classes will have the opportunity to apply for the AWB Mentorship Program. As part of this rare opportunity, each teaching artist will select one student as a Mentee* based on their work during the virtual program. The mentees will be offered: private coaching, guidance on academic and career goals, tickets to selected performances with a personalized backstage tour, and access to all AWB classes and events in 2021.

To be considered as a Mentee, you must attend a minimum of five (5) Virtual classes with Art Without Borders Inc. and submit a short video (3-5 minutes) while taking a class from AWB Virtual Program.

AWB Virtual Program: Master Class Series with Indiana Woodward, Soloist Ballerina with the New York City Ballet

This class is part of AWB newest project ‘Arts & Foreign Languages’ and will be offered in #French and English. Live-streamed on Zoom: class includes classic barre, technique with Individual corrections and Q & A.

BIO: Born in Paris France, Indiana Woodward‘s earliest memories are of watching ballet class and being backstage in the theater. After moving to Los Angeles, Indiana began training with Yuri Grigoriev and it was from that moment that she knew that this was going to be her lifelong passion and career.

Indiana began studying at the School of American Ballet in the summer of 2010 and joined the school as a full time student in the fall of 2010. In August 2012 Ms. Woodward became an apprentice with New York City Ballet and a full member of the company in December of the same year. Indiana was promoted to soloist in February 2017.

Ms. Woodward is a recipient of the 2016 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award and 2016 Clive Barnes Foundation Award. In 2010, she won first place in the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive in New York City and was invited to perform at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy gala in Moscow.

Remote Internship with Art Without Borders New York

Seeking qualified candidates (U.S. based only) showing strong competency and proficiency of / for research methods and contact management systems for the purpose of Marketing, Education, Audience Development, PR and Media Relations, Fundraising, Sales and Special Events of Arts and Culture / Entertainment related clientele. 

Applicants from academic institutions in the U.S. (including recent graduates) should be willing to commit to at least 10-15 hours of remote work per week, Monday through Sunday during a minimum of three (3) months. Candidates must have at least 1-2 years previous experience in the Arts and Culture / Entertainment industry. 

Please note that this is an unpaid position – college credit and practical training offered. Intern will work directly with AWB Management and Teaching Artists. BIO: Daniel Ulbricht was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA, and began his dance training at the age of 11. At age 16, Mr. Ulbricht was invited by the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, to continue his training. As a student at SAB, Mr. Ulbricht performed with New York City Ballet as a Jester in Peter Martins’ The Sleeping Beauty.

In December 2000, he became an apprentice with New York City Ballet and in November 2001 he joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet. In January 2005, Mr. Ulbricht was promoted to the rank of soloist and principal dancer in May 2007. During his time there, he has danced featured roles in a number of Balanchine, Robbins, Martins, and Wheeldon ballets.

Mr. Ulbricht is a guest teacher at the School of American Ballet, Ballet Academy East, as well as, teaching at a number of well-known national dance schools, private schools, and universities throughout the United States. Mr. Ulbricht is currently the Artistic Advisor of Manhattan Youth Ballet. Mr. Ulbricht is also the Artistic Director of New York State Summer School for the Arts in Saratoga Springs, NY. Mr. Ulbricht is also founder and director of “Stars of American Ballet”, a touring group focusing on high art, education and outreach. Mr. Ulbricht is also the co-founder and producer of “Dance Against Cancer”, an annual benefit for the American Cancer Society. Mr. Ulbricht is also on the board of the National Dance Institute.

BIO: Tanairi Sade Vazquez has made her mark in all avenues of the entertainment world in Broadway, Television and film. As an established Broadway performer, Tanairi’s debut was in The Original Revival cast of West Side Story as one of the shark girls in 2009. After that, she was unstoppable originating her roles in Wonderland, Gigi, and On Your Feet on Broadway and also being part of the First National tour of Come Fly Away. She is currently in the ensemble of Hamilton: An American Musical on Broadway. Her passion for acting doesn’t end at the Broadway stage. Her first big role was a recurring spot as Annie Valdez in Season 3 of Orange Is The New Black. She can also be seen in Law and Order SVU, The Blacklist, The Deuce, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Fosse/Verdon, and NBC’s Smash. Her next big project is set to premiere in December 2021, as a featured shark girl Charita in the new remake of West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg, written by Tony Kushner, and choreographed by Justin Peck.
